2) One Voice – The Wailin’ Jennys
This clip from Episode 2 – Arden Rosenblatt.
3) Long Time Sun – Girsh
4) In the Fire – Roadrunner United
5) Take Me – Rufus
6) From Home (Mux Mool Remix) – Tycho
Back with interviews soon, hopefully!
…well, about people who are about 27.
I find this study really interesting because I enjoy assessing situations by the numbers. Numbers are concrete, they’re scientific, and although statistics can be manipulated in all sorts of ways, you can make your own decisions about them too.
Also, I was thinking last night about the fact that people who took out loans for college or grad school are significantly behind, financially, in comparison to their peers who didn’t have to take out loans. The latter group could add any extra funds to their savings accounts, whereas the former would have to put most of that extra cash towards loan payments. Just a thought about the persistence of inequality in our society…
Enjoy this article, and don’t forget to tune in tomorrow on http://www.kcsb.org from about 12:30pm-1pm (California time) for another music-filled episode with special stories!
Hi you guys,
This week, I had a very unique show in that I didn’t do an interview, but rather played music chosen by guests of past episodes and talked a little bit about it. I’m working on whether I can post the show here (because of pesky copyright laws), but either way, here is the playlist!
1) Fruta y Te – Gepe
2) Honey I Been Thinking About You – Jackie Greene
3) Loca – Chico Trujillo
4) Young And Beautiful – Lana del Rey
5) Bright Stars Burning – Hey Marseilles
6) Don’t Work Yourself Up – Tristan Prettyman
7) Someone You’d Admire – Fleet Foxes
8) The World Is Yours – Nas
Why this format you ask? Well, KCSB, the radio station where I broadcast my show, decided to shorten my time slot by 20 and 30 minutes (they didn’t know) to read a book live on air for this UCSB program that’s actually really neat, but unfortunately includes this reading on air component that I find insane and silly. SO, I made the most of it and put on a show in a unique format that would be fun for me. I’m gonna stick with this format next week to play songs from episodes I didn’t get to, but I’m going to try to have some 20-30 min interviews during the three subsequent weeks. Stay tuned! As always, thank you for listening!
“The 20-Something Life” is the radio show that gives stories and advice for twenty-first century twenty-somethings. In this first episode of Season 2, host Colenn Berracasa talks with Peter Paulin, a 20-something Danish-American who currently lives in San Francisco, CA. They chat about growing up with many different cultures in many different cities, 3rd culture kids, being 16 and gay in Bush-era 2004, Danish culture, international school, remembering the importance of family, seeing the U.S. with new eyes after living in Denmark for 7 years, transferring to an American university as an international student, an amazing story about the power of persistence & those who facilitate it, being in a long-distance monogamish relationship, waiting to move in with a boyfriend, being judged for how you live your relationship life by peers, maintaining a 5+ year romantic relationship, issues of beauty and image within the gay community, finding a complete sense of self, and appreciating the small things in life.
This episode’s songs (omitted in the recording to respect copyright laws):
